In Vietnam as a SCOUT FORWARD OBSERVOR Mr. Butts developed many of his skills he uses to this day. He never takes notes in meeting because he had to remember everything he called in on fire missions and back at Con Thien and Gio Lien the two most northern bases in Vietnam 1500 yards for North Vietnam as he battery FO he would handle as many as eight simultaneous fire mission at once from his counterpart FOs in the field. Take the fire missions, clear the fire missions and adjust the fire mission eight at a time without writing them down. A mistake would cost Marine lives.
